Profile: Mariano Guerrero, Partner Equation Partners Chile

AltoPartners, the international alliance of independent executive search and leadership consulting firms, is proud to welcome Mariano Guerrero as new Partner to the Equation Partners team in Chile. Mariano Guerrero has over 30 years of experience in both the Financial Industry, at Banco Santander and Citibank, and in Media/Press where, for over 10 years, he was the CFO of El Mercurio (the biggest news group in Chile).

Mariano’s top management experience covers highly diverse areas that include technology, operations, business development, general administration, and finance.

His professional career began in the Sales division of Copec. He then took over as Development Manager in Bancard, the company that introduced the massive use of credit cards, VISA and Mastercard, in Chile. He later worked as Deputy Manager of Operations and Information of Banco BICE. From there he moved to Spain as Operations Manager of Citibank-Spain, which had just been established for the purchase and merger of Banco de Levante and New Bank. In Spain he was later signed by Banco Santander in the position of Director of Rationalization, responsible for optimizing both the operations and commercial development of 1,400 branches. He returned to Chile as Deputy Manager of Operations of Banco Santander Chile. Here, due to the purchase of Banco Osorno and the issuance of ADR’s in NY, he also held the position of Management Control and Investor Relations Manager. His most recent position was CFO of El Mercurio, one of Chile’s most important media/press groups; a position he held for more than 10 years.

Mariano Guerrero is a Civil Industrial Engineer from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. He later obtained a graduate degree in economics from the same university.
