Profile: Yevgeny Merkel and Daniel Hall, Founding Partners Excelion Partners International

Yevgeny, Daniel and the team at Excelion Partners International joined the AltoPartners alliance in October 2016 and highlight the exceptional calibre of expertise within our global alliance. We are proud to have them as part of our alliance that spans 55 offices in 35 countries across the Americas, Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia-Pacific.
Yevgeny is a Founding Partner of Excelion Partners International and works for clients across the industrial, technology, consumer, life sciences and private equity sectors.
He has fifteen years of experience in executive search, management assessment and strategy consulting, first with McKinsey & Company in Vienna and later at Egon Zehnder International in Moscow, Vienna and London.
In addition to his work at Excelion, Yevgeny also serves on the Board of Directors of the Russo-British Chamber of Commerce and the Board of Directors of Vitesse Arnhem, an Eredivisie Football Club in the Netherlands. Throughout his professional career, he has been involved in various start-up projects across Europe in the role of co-founder, advisor or as part of the management team. In his early career in the 1990s, Yevgeny worked as a General Manager of a German construction company in Russia.
Education and languages
Yevgeny received a BA in International Relations from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations and an MBA from the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration and the University of South Carolina. He also studied Corporate Finance, Private Equity and Entrepreneurship at London Business School.
Daniel is a Founding Partner of Excelion Partners International and specialises in executive search, management assessment and organisation design services across the industrial, consumer, technology and life sciences sectors.
He brings more than a decade of international executive search and management assessment experience, first with the AESC in New York and Brussels and later at Neumann International in Vienna and London.
Previously Dan served as European Sales and Marketing Director of an industrial and trading group active in Russia, where he worked from Hamburg.
Education and languages
Dan received a BA in Political Science and German Literature from the University of Vermont and an MBA from the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration and the University of South Carolina, where he studied as a Darla Moore fellow. Dan is a dual US and British national and speaks fluent English and German.
