Lauren E. Smith

Lauren Smith is a Managing Director in the Miami office of Diversified Search. She conducts senior-level executive search assignments for clients ranging from high-growth early-stage organizations to multinational corporations, specializing in working with companies that are growing and/or transforming into new markets and businesses.
Smith is valued by clients for her ability to understand an organization’s strategic direction, her skills at assessing the cultural fit of candidates, and her dedication to quality and timeliness. She has placed executives and/or board members at clients such as Apple, Citrix, Comfort Systems, DHL, Kaplan Inc., Novell, Office Depot, Polyconcept, Ryder, Sheridan Healthcare, Tupperware, and Winn-Dixie. She has recently co-led board searches for a number of Fortune 500 boards, including Jacobs Engineering Corporation, Fifth Third Bank, and Navient Corporation.
She started her career in executive search in 2000 with Egon Zehnder. Before moving into the search field, she had 12 years of experience leading marketing and strategy at two Fortune 50 companies, Westinghouse Electric Corporation and Motorola Inc. During her time at Motorola, she led marketing and customer operations for a wireless joint venture in Bogotá, Colombia.
Smith is an active member on numerous boards of directors. Some of these include the American Red Cross South Florida Chapter, the H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship of Nova Southeastern University, and the Women Executive Leadership. A Governance Fellow at the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), she is the President of the Florida Chapter and is an active member of the Thirty Percent Coalition and Women Corporate Directors.
Smith has been quoted as an expert on executive and board recruiting a wide range of publications, including NACD Directorship, Entrepreneur magazine, American Way magazine, the Miami Herald, and South Florida CEO Magazine. She has served as a guest lecturer at Nova Southeastern University and as a speaker for the National Association of Corporate Directors. In 2010, she was named a Most Influential Business Woman by the South Florida Business Journal.
