Christien studied Business and Languages at Birmingham City University in the UK, and later gained a Master of Business Administration through Aston University.
She commenced her career working with IBL International, a rapidly growing computer leasing company based in the UK, where she had administrative responsibility for sales, engineering transport and distribution, as well as lease finance.
In her next role, as a consultant at Sheffield, she led Marketplace, a niche lower to mid level sales and marketing recruitment business. After a year she moved into Sheffield as a recruitment consultant and progressed to leadership of that practice area. She joined as a partner in 1995.
Christien then led the Search Practice before becoming the firm’s Managing Director for a period of just over years.
She presently leads the Organisational Development team and holds responsibility for the relationship with DDI, for whom Sheffield holds the exclusive New Zealand licence.
Her consultancy experience is both deep and broad. She is an experienced strategic facilitator, and has guided numerous governance reviews as well as providing coaching, performance and leadership development services. She is a certified facilitator of the internationally acclaimed DDI learning Programmes as well as its Targeted Selection® System.
Christien is a long-standing member of both the Human Resources Institute of New Zealand and the New institute of Directors.
